Features Industry’s First 19,500-lb GWVR Low-Cab Forward Truck With a Gas Engine

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. recently announced production is beginning on its highly anticipated lineup of Class 5 gasoline-powered trucks, which will be available in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Both new models will be the first Class 5 low cab forward trucks to offer a gas option on the market.

The 17,950-pound GVWR NQR and the 19,500-pound GVWR NRR will be powered by a 6.0L gas-powered V-8 engine. The NRR will be the first 19,500-pound-GVWR low cab forward truck in the industry to offer a gasoline engine option.

More Versatility Featured in New Models

Both the NQR and NRR allow customers to choose between a standard cab with seating for three or a crew cab which seats up to seven, offering customers more versatility with choosing their Isuzu Class 5 Truck.

Wheelbases also range from 132.5 to 176 inches. Much like the Isuzu’s Class 3 and Class 4 gas trucks, both the NQR and NRR will offer a 38.6 gallon stainless-steel fuel tank.

The new Class 5 N-Series trucks will give customers the widest range of gas engine options in the low cab forward market and the series also meets the upcoming new and stringent emission requirements.

The NQR Gas and NRR Gas join a complete line of Isuzu medium-duty LCF trucks, including diesel-powered N-Series models (NPR, NQR and NRR) with GVWRs from 14,500 to 19,500 pounds; Class 3 and 4 NPR and NPR-HD gas models powered by a 6.6L V-8 engine; and the diesel Class 6 FTR with wheelbases from 152 to 248 inches and a GVWR of 25,950 pounds.

Powerful Engines and Power Takeoff

Both trucks featured in the new Class 5 N-Series have a 6.0 liter V8 engine, which has been certified and supplied by Power Solutions International and built from a Vortec V8 block, which is customized to Isuzu specifications.

The engine is mated to a six-speed Allsion 1000 RDS transmission with power takeoff (PTO), marking another milestone for Isuzu as this is the first time Isuzu has offered PTO in a gas-powered truck, which will be especially useful for vocations that require that kind of capability.
